The Grading Assistant
Founder / CTO / Lead Engineer
The Grading Assistant is an AI-powered grading platform built for K-12 and higher education teachers. Powered by Claude AI (Anthropic), it automates the grading workflow end-to-end — teachers upload student submissions, provide or auto-generate a rubric, and receive a gradebook-ready CSV, a class-level insights report, and individualized student critique PDFs in minutes instead of hours.
Key differentiators include support for an unusually broad range of file formats (DOCX, PDF, PPTX, XLSX, images, audio, video, and handwritten work via OCR), native Google Classroom integration with grade passback, anonymous grading mode to reduce bias, and a strict zero-data-collection policy on student submissions. Pricing starts free with paid tiers from $9.99/month.
Built by Foxteck (Georgetown, TX), the product was designed with direct input from a current teacher — prioritizing the workflows educators actually use rather than theoretical ones.
My direct involvement:
- Designed, implemented, and enhanced with Generative AI — namely Claude and Copilot
- Built agentic pipelines to push content directly to Azure
- Ensured data security by being a pass-through — data is not stored, only referenced long enough to provide results back to the user
- Built social channel marketing strategies for initial client outreach
- Built a corresponding website focused on knowledge transfer, transparency, and usability
- All video tutorials and marketing videos were recorded and edited by hand
